ready. set. goal.

Some personal goals for 2014...
we promise this is our last post about the New Year :)

His goals

1| 5k < 20 minutes. Growing up, I played every sport imaginable, but only in the last few years have I begun running just to run. I'm able to run longer distances and I've participated in races, but I've never actually "raced" in a race. I know that a 20 minute 5k isn't that impressive, but it's impressive for me. That's one of the reasons I love to run... Because the only person I care about being better than is my past self.

2| Be more helpful. I've never been great at picking up after myself. As you can imagine, a 500 sq foot apartment can quickly become a disaster zone after a couple days of slacking. The only thing I'm any good at is laundry (thanks retail), but that's definitely not enough. Quick pickups in the morning and before bed should help keep things in order.

3| Make time for adventures. It's so easy to get stuck in routine. Going to work, coming home, doing chores, and being too tired for anything else. You begin to long for adventures, getting lost, going on a spectacular date, etc. So why not make adventures part of your routine?  I'm scheduling weekly outings with Becka and getting serious about having fun.

Her goals

1| Quiet reading time. I'm designating 20 minutes each evening to scripture and/or a good non-fiction read. I've had a history of sleeping difficulties and I think some peaceful time before bed is much needed.

2| 4+ weekly workouts. I'm getting back into a normal workout routine... along with the majority of America. I've already been working up a sweat with a program on the Nike Training Club App. My first experience using it was not so great, considering it decided to glitch and lose my first few workouts. I had a little whine session and finally decided to just start over. Everything has been running smoothly since.

3| Show more love. This is a simple one. This year I plan on giving more hugs, writing more notes and holding hands with my hubby more often. I want the people in my life to know how much I truly appreciate them.

How are your new goals/resolutions going so far?
